Subtitles Preference is currently not available on HIDIVE at the moment, we’re rolling out additional improvements over the next few months, so look forward to even more features like revamped subtitle preferences.

When streaming a title, an English (dubbed) version will play first, if available. If the English dub is not available, then the Japanese audio English subtitles will play. (If you don't see the option to select an audio, it means that the default audio available is the only one accessible.)

If you prefer a different language or wish to change the subtitles while streaming via the web, click the settings gear bottom right of the player and select language preference there.

Mobile devices:  To change the audio/subtitle language, select the setting gear at the top right of the player and select the preferred language for that title.

Fire TV: On the top right of the video player, you will see an icon that looks like a chat bubble. This will be where you can change the audio language and turn on subtitles if available.

Apple TV: On the top right of the video player, you will see an icon that looks like a chat bubble. This will be where you can change the audio language and turn on subtitles if available.

The ROKU app is a bit different.  In order to access the subtitles/language preferences, play a title and then pause it, and press the * or star on the ROKU remote.  You will then see a menu.  In that menu, please select accessibility, and then you will see caption/subtitle and audio track options.  This is where you can select your audio language and what type of subtitles and captioning are available.
